Emmanuel is supporting Hunger Action Month on Friday, September 27, by hosting its first Empty Bowls event from 5 pm to 7 pm, bringing together cooks and potters to provide a modest supper of soup, bread and dessert and a handmade “empty bowl” to take home as a reminder of our neighbors who face food insecurities.
Admission per person is $20, with all proceeds going to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the Rockfish Gap Food Pantry. Every dollar allows the BRAFB to provide four meals! In addition, raffle tickets will be sold for the chance to win one of three handcrafted items from the famous Emmanuel White Oak that stood proudly on the church grounds for several hundreds of years until 2022.
RESERVE YOUR TICKETS for the evening of September 27 to join others in raising awareness about hunger!
We are raffling off 3 beautiful pieces handcrafted by Bob Fuhrman using wood from our own white oak tree that was taken down in 2022. Raffle tickets (1 for $10; 3 for $20) must be purchased in-person by cash or check. There will be at table at coffee hour on Sundays where you can purchase tickets as well as view the bowls in person. Tickets can also be purchased at the event.
