Hosanna for Palm Sunday

4/6/2020

From Kathleen Capshaw: Growing up in the Moravian church... my favorite Sunday of the church year was always Palm Sunday because the congregation sang this hymn along with the choir... just as it is shared here in the video. Everyone can learn the words and little children can belt it out with joy.  Blessed is He that comes!

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Sense of Place on March 29, 2020

3/30/2020

From Camilyn Leone: Thank you for those members and founders of EEC of Greenwood who came before me for creating a beautiful place.  They built a church that humbly sits atop a hill under a canopy of old oak trees.  The steeple reaches into the sky, but it is beneath the branches that lift my eyes in wonder of our God. This reminds me that all human endeavors should seek to honor God’s creation.  How blessed we are to have this place to come together as Christians sheltered by God’s love.

"Blessed Jesus, We Are Here" by J. S. Bach

3/29/2020

From Larry Smith: Hello Everyone at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Greenwood, VA. Here is an organ prelude: "Blessed Jesus, We Are Here" by J. S. Bach. Hope that you enjoy!

I Giorni

3/24/2020

From Linda Aagaard: Hi all! One of my favorite pieces of music, which is beautiful and ethereal, good for lifting the soul, is A Angel Dubeau and La Pieta, performing “ I Giorni”. Please check it out, you will love it. Hope everyone is hanging in there and doing well.

Lamentation Practice For A Time of Crisis

3/22/2020

Picture
From BB Vaughn: I love information from Richard Rohr, and I would like to share a practice: Lamentation for a Time of Crisis.  From this practice I am learning how necessary lamenting is and how freeing it can be. Today on a conference call, several of us talked through this pattern, and I hope to share with others!

Lost In Wonder

3/22/2020

Picture
From Linda Aargard: I am really enjoying the book “Lost in Wonder” by Esther De Waal. The thing is perfect and the words beautiful. It is a good book to read for Lent, it is a perfect book to read while staying at home, but getting outside. Hope you also like it.

Resources For Worship and Devotion

3/19/2020

https://prayer.forwardmovement.org/

This is a classic that has daily readings and meditations.  It mirrors their publication.

 https://cathedral.org/
The National Cathedral has good content for daily meditations and streaming services of worship on a regular basis

https://www.bcponline.org/
If you do not have a hard copy of a Book of Common Prayer, this is the online version.  It is a great resource for liturgies, prayers, and daily services.

Cindy Kirchner likes this for a podcast stream of Morning Prayer

Harry Lankenau likes Boyd Bailey’s devotions.  Look under the blog section for a catalog.

Janice and I love theologian Richard Rohr’s meditations.  You can sign up to get one sent to you daily.  He is developing new content every day.

I also like the content being posted through St. Philip’s Cathedral in Atlanta.  Their Dean, Sam Candler, is a thoughtful and wise colleague and friend.

WELCOME
This is the table, not of the Church but of Jesus Christ. It is made ready for those who love God and who want to love God more.
So come, you who have much faith and you who have little, You who have been here often and you who have not been for a long time or ever before.
You who have tried to follow and all of us who have failed. These are the gifts of God for the People of God.
