Welcome to Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Greenwood. Whether you are visiting from the community or from out-of-town, new to the Christian faith, or seeking a church home, we invite you to explore Emmanuel. And wherever you are in your spiritual journey, we hope that you will accompany us. So we invite you to worship with us.
... at the table, not of the Church, but of the Lord.
It is made ready for those who love Him
and those who want to love Him more.
So, come, you who have much faith and you who have little,
you who have been here often and you who have not been here long,
you who have tried to follow and you who have failed.
Come because God invites you, and it is His will
that you should meet Him here.
Are you a newcomer to Emmanuel? We hope you will find the answers to some basic questions on this page but please contact the church office at Phone: 540-456-6334 or with any questions!
Emmanuel is located in Greenwood, VA off of Route 250 West of Charlottesville. See the google map link on this page for directions from your location.
As you enter the church from Rte. 250 you will wind up the driveway. At the top of the hill there is limited parking to the right. Otherwise you would turn left in front of the church into a one-way drive. As you drive past the church there is an area where you can pull over just near the front door to let out anyone who would have difficulty walking. Continuing on the drive circles past the Marston-LaRue building and around to the back of the church. There is parking located east of Marston-LaRue and around the back of the church building.
There are a few buildings that make up the Emmanuel Episcopal Church footprint. Click here for a map of the church facilities.
Restrooms are located within the Parish Hall.
Attending one of our Sunday morning worship services is the best way to learn more about Emmanuel Episcopal.
- 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist worship service (with organ and choir and children’s worship opportunities)
Join Us For Coffee Hour
We encourage all of our members and guests to join us for a time of fellowship in the Parish Hall on Sunday after the 10 AM worship service. Coffee Hour is an informal time to drop in, grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee. This is a great way to get to know other members of this family of faith.
The Eucharist (Great Thanksgiving) is at the core of our worship together as a parish family. In the Episcopal Church, Eucharist is the principle service used on Sundays. The liturgies are found in The Book of Common Prayer. Rites I and II are used throughout the liturgical seasons. In addition to Sunday worship, there are special services offered throughout the year.
Please check the weekly Church bulletins, the Emmanuel newsletter and this website for special services throughout the year.
The nursery (with attendant) is open during all Sunday services. The Nursery is located in the Parish Hall.
During the months of September to May, Sunday School is offered for youth during the 9:00 hour. Refer to the Sunday School page for further information.
Emmanuel strives to be a welcoming community for all people, offering a variety of fellowship, education, and ministry opportunities. We invite you to join with us as we “strive to live in Christ and do his work from this place”.
